“When you’re looking for Burrowing Owls, sometimes you have to look up. Each colony has sentinels who are searching for potential threats to the other owls - humans included. The sentinel’s warning calls alerted me to it’s presence so I stopped advancing. It took some time to find the bird on it’s high perch.”
