“I grew up watching magpies. They were literally everywhere in our small Colorado town. Their entertaining and gregarious behavior made them a family favorite.

“I finally got around to painting one and enjoyed the memories that painting this bird brought back. I was surprised to discover that the biggest challenge was painting the small leaves. The time investment in the plant was literally three times that of the bird!

“I hope the viewer will enjoy the unique beauty of the magpie and will be inspired to learn more about it and the many birds all around us.”
